Arrived to Skopje, the capital of "FYROM" The city is like a small Las Vegas on steroids. Too many fancy buildings, lights and huge statues that costed a fortune. Instead of making the everyday life of the citizens better, the government of Skopje spent huge amounts of money on "creating" the countries past.
For the last decades there is a conflict with Greece over the name of Great Alexander. Geographically 51% of "Macedonia Kingdom" is now in Greek land and only 11% of the region belongs to the country of FYROM. the rest is in Bulgarian land.
20km away from the capital is the canyon of Matka. One of the most famous places that somebody can visit in FYROM. Being there off season was good because I could really enjoy the silence and the piece of the canyon.
During Summertime is one of the most visited touristic destinations and off course is more noisy and not so enjoyable in my opinion.
